People are often amazed that Roobarb and Custard have only had two kids TV series produced, the fact that those two cult animated cartoons include almost 70 episodes is probably why!
Roobarb and Custard first appeared on 1970s children’s TV as the very first animated TV characters to have a repeating weekly series. Grange Calveley, Bob Godfrey and Richard Briers worked together on 30 episodes which went on to win several prestigious animation awards at film festivals and to screen on British children’s TV for the next four decades! For two 1970s cartoon characters it took the BBC years to agree to broadcast, this happy green dog and cynical pink cat have done rather well!

Screening on the TV station Five ever since (and also screened in Ireland and Australia), the new series provided 39 new episodes featuring the legendary 1970s TV characters, joined by a host of new animated characters along with the essential and annoying birds!
