Roobarb and Custard are cult cartoon characters from 1970s children's TV; the very first animation to get a whole series dedicated to it which has continued screening on British television for 40 years!

Roobarb the green dog, Custard the pink cat and their cast of wobbly animated characters have grown to become legends of children’s TV. Introduced on the BBC through a series of 70s cartoons the duo have appeared in almost 70 episodes still screening today on Channel Five's childrens TV and various locations around the Net. Famous for it’s “boiling” style of British animation, witty dialogue, surreal events, Richard Brier’s wonderful narration and the most incredibly manic theme tune ever heard pretty much everyone in the UK has childhood memories of Roobarb!

The 1970s TV show blazed a trail for future British cartoons convincing the BBC that an animated series could work, but it nearly didn’t happen and only the tenacity and hard work of creator Grange Calveley and animator Bob Godfrey ensured these iconic characters made it to the small screen.
